So, on Friday the Food Hub Nig team visited Native Tray outlet located in Gra area of Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.
On reaching the location, the first thing I noticed was that there wasn’t much parking space which could be a problem if you’re driving down.
As we walked in, we were greeted with light music in the background and a pleasant smell, which added to the friendly welcome we got from the staff at the door.
We were attended to promptly, menus were handed to us immediately we sat down.
The menu had a variety of so many great things that it took us about 15mins before we where able to decide and finally place our orders.
Our orders were White rice and Gizdodo, Nkwobi and “The Governor” (A Native Tray Special,) which consists of gizzard, chicken, big juicy prawns and spaghetti.
We noticed we were only informed about their food menu at first and not given the drink menu until one of us requested for it.
From the drink menu, we ordered Chapman and a cocktail named Sex on the Beach, the Chapman had a twist to it from the regular, which was a nice surprise.
We were served sliced Garden eggs and Oso-oji (spicy peanut butter) before the main course.
The presentation of the Gizdodo dish was clean, same as the Nkwobi, but the presentation of “The Gorvenor” was a bit disorganized, as it was on a plate too small to contain everything properly.
We relayed that to the management and they promised to change the presentation soon.
Having a team comes with its perks, cause we could sample a bit from each other’s plates 😂. All the meals were properly done, nothing over or under cooked. But our favorite was the Gizdodo.
It was particularly seasoned to perfection and would recommend trying it.
The environment is conducive for family gatherings, the waiters were friendly, it was an overall nice experience, oh, and they have a minibar 😛
Would we like to visit Native Tray again?? Yes, especially to explore more from their wide range of dishes.
