Salah scores as Egypt crash out of World Cup

Liverpool star man, Mo Salah was on target for Egypt but wasn’t enough to savage victory for the African side as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against host nation, Russia on Tuesday and became the first team to exit the 2018 World Cup.

The nightmare started second half for Egypt as Russia took the lead 47 minutes into the game. Zobnin fired a poor shot at goal but it took a huge deflection of Fathy, putting it into the bottom right-hand corner.

59 minutes, the host nation doubled their advantage. Fernandes brilliantly makes room on the right to cut a ball back into the middle, where Cheryshev slots home his third goal in two games.

62 minutes on, Russia turned on the style and Dzyuba gets his second goal of the tournament. The striker excellently takes a ball from Kutepov down inside the area, cutting past Gabr and giving El-Shenawy no chance with his finish.

11 minutes later, Egypt were awarded a penalty, Salah stepped up and makes no mistake with his finish, firing past Akinfeev from the spot. The Liverpool star gets his World Cup goal, to reduce the deficit.
