A Nigerian serving corper who goes by the name Miss Bolufemi Princess Motunrayo a graduate of Prince Abubakar Audu University committed suicide at her home in Enugu State.
The incident happened on Friday the 10th of January 2020, Bolufemi who is a graduate of Banking and Finance was currently a Batch C Youth Corps Member and was said to have been serving at the Girls Secondary School, Ibagwa Aka, Igbo-Eze South LGA killed herself with two bottles of sniper.
In a short note, she penned down before committing suicide.
“I did this because I see nothing worth living for in this world”.
” Mummy, I love you
“Daddy, I love you
” Matthew and John, you guys should take care, we will meet where we will depart no more.
I love you guys”
From her letter, she was obviously depressed and decided to take her life.
Nigeria’s suicide rate does place it 15th in the world according to the most recent data done in 2016 by Global Health and 2018 research based on WHO statistics still puts Nigeria as 15th in the world.
It is sad to say that not much is being done at the moment to tackle this issue of suicide among young people.
