Heung-min Son stepped up yet again to help Tottenham get a late winner, and secure three vital points against stubborn Newcastle, as they pipped them 1-0.
Match day 25 of the English Premier League kicked off early with Spurs hosting Newcastle United at the Wembley Stadium.
Lucas Moura should have given Spurs an early lead in the 17th minute, but he headed wide when Lamela picked him from close range after Newcastle cleared Eriksen’s freekick.
Seven minutes later, Erik Lamela headed towards the cross bar when Jan Vertonghen sent a cross into the box.
Tottenham continued to grow in frustration as Dubravka parried a well timed shot from Sissoko.
The match looked poised for a barren draw as Solomon Rondon hit the woodwork early in the second half. Meanwhile, there were two goal-line clearances made by Schar and Matt Ritchie at the opposite end in the 65th and 81st minutes respectively.
With just Seven minutes of regular time to play, Son rescued the North London outfit, after making the most of a howler from Dubravka — who let Son’s shot slip past through him.
The win sees Tottenham overtake Man City in the title race and also sets a new Premier League record for most games without a draw.
