The model Y is finally here ladies and Gentlemen.
In the usual Tesla fashion, the Model Y was finally unveiled to us by Elon Musk after a long history lesson about Tesla’s other vehicles and also an insight into what is to come for the future of the company’. The model Y is pretty much what we expected. But lets get into and unpack this new model.
The Model Y is bigger and includes an option to add third row seats as we saw at the unveiling where 7 individuals came out of the vehicle when it was revealed. The model Y has 4 different trims:

19 inch sports wheels at $1500 comes as standard on all range but the performance range which comes with a standard 20 inch wheels
Now, we’ve gotten inside scope of the model Y, to me this seems a mixed bag. As this might not be Tesla’s best innovation in terms of creativity where it scores average among Tesla fans and critics alike, I say the things I’m glad about is that Tesla did away with the chrome lining around the vehicle and replaced it with all black –I’m not sure what material but it looks like metal and the falcon doors have been done away with. Welcome changes in my opinion.
The bug bear for me also rolls over on the price tag; could this be the reason customer won’t buy the Model Y as we know it is 10% more car than the model 3 which translate to 10% increase in price.
Some have argued that Tesla might not be able to compete in the 2020 market which is clearly going be dominated by electric car from all manufacturers leaving behind their hybrid vehicles.
And finally delivery, will Tesla be able to deliver on time and avoid the issues they suffered with the last model cars they mass produced?
Oh and don’t forget Tesla seems to be the only car and electric car manufacturer that puts a lot of thought into the naming convention of its vehicles #TeslaS3XY.
