Cheating Services for financial gains will soon be a criminal offense. The United Kingdom government announced via a new bill – ‘Skills and Post-16 Education Bill’
In a bid to tackle Education reform and as part of the new ‘Skills and Post-16 Education Bill’ , the UK government announced that it is going to soon declare Essay mills or contract cheating a criminal offence. When this new law comes into effect, any provision, arrangement, or advertising of “cheating services” for financial gains will be a criminal offense.
Essay mills or essay-writing services are services offered to students in exchange for a fee.
Back in 2018, University bosses called for a ban on essay-writing companies, sighting they were a aiding plagiarism and undermining hard working honest students.
Minister for Skills Alex Burghart said:
Speaking about the decision, “Essay mills are completely unethical and profit by undermining the hard work most students do. We are taking steps to ban these cheating services.”
He added:
“Banning essay mills will help to safeguard the academic integrity and standards of post-16 and higher education in England and protect students from falling prey to the deceptive marketing techniques of contract cheating services.
