A car enthusiast with the twitter handle – @JaafarSJaafar, shared photos of his journey to restoring the once beloved Peugeot 404 automobile from the 1960s and 1970s era.
Manufactured by the french and named Peugeot 404, this vehicle came in three variants the Saloon, Pickup and the Estate.
“This model was built in the spring of 1974, the car combines comfort, Quality, longevity and the economy of the time,”
The car lover said he had originally planned on purchasing the vehicle from Luxembourg but shelved the idea after re-evaluating the cost and overhead that will be required. He settled for sourcing the vehicle locally back home in Nigeria.

After searching for a while he found a beat up rusty old femme in Maiduguri and had it overhauled to Kano where it was to begin its rebirth.
Jaafar Jaafar took pride in restoring the car that has always been one of his dream cars. Although the painful but meaningful task took him five months, he persevered and finally like a phoenix, she rose from the ashes.
He also heaped praises on those who supported and helped him with the restoration process saying:
Special appriciation to Abudlmumin Danna who hunted and found the car; kudos to the best panel beater I’ve ever known Abubakar (Daddy) who spent over two months doing the grafting, welding and straightening work;salute to my lazy but meticulous painter Shola who painstakingly sprayed paint; an ode to my electrician Khalifa who restored the original wiring and fixed the amber fog lamps; 3 gbosas to oga Odurinde (Odus the upholster) who restored the interior; All hail Amaechi who supplied the available and even the endangered parts from onitsha and fixed them
@JaafarSJaafar calls her ‘vieille femme’ which is french for Old Lady.

One thing about bringing back this pretty lady to life is. WAZOBIA came together to resurrect her. If NIGERIA can come together as one, we can resurrect NIGERIA too sad
