First half ended goalless with the Gunners creating the better chances and forced Bodart into making a couple of good saves to keep his side in it.
The keeper kept out Smith Rowe’s effort from a tight angle on the right of the box with his feet before making a double save right at the end of the half when he pushed away Saka’s shot and held onto Nelson’s header.
2 minutes into second half, Standard Liege took the lead. Bastien wasn’t closed down as he made a forward run and fired his shot towards goal from outside the box.
Before Selim Amallah doubled the lead for the home side 69 minutes on after a poor piece of defending by Willock as he touched the ball straight into Amallah’s path.
However, Arsenal got back into it though thanks to some brilliant play from Saka. First, he set up Lacazette’s goal before firing them level from outside the box.
The draw was enough to take Arsenal through, but it also means they qualify as group winners due to Frankfurt losing to Vitoria in the other group game.
Standard did have a chance to go through with them thanks to Vitoria’s win, but they couldn’t find the winning goal which would have seen them through to the round of 32 for the first time since 2011-12.
