It appears just like rumours surrounding other midfielders linked with a move to Old Trafford, home of English giants, Manchester United, Leander Dendoncker’s won’t go away, too.
According to a Belgian newspaper, De Morgen, United will continue to run the rule over the midfielder, following claims that the Red Devils have sent a scout to watch the young defensive midfielder as Anderlecht tackle Royal Antwerp tonight.
It would be recalled that during the preseason tour of the US, Jose Mourinho made it clear he’d want two more signings, going as far as saying a midfielder and a wide player.
The Portuguese also pointed out that given how difficult the market is at the moment, a midfielder is top of his priority list.
United have been linked, in recent times, with midfielders like Spurs’ Eric Dier, AS Monaco”s Brazilian ace, Fabinho and Mourinho’s former star at Chelsea, Nemanja Matic.
However, one name has been mentioned before, and that’s that of Dendoncker, with reports that United are closely monitoring the 22-year-old.
The youngster was brilliant for the Belgian outfit last seasn and formed an impressive midfield partnership with Youri Tielemans, who has recently signed for French champions, AS Monaco.
Dendoncker impressed in Anderlecht’s two-legged tie in the Europa League against Manchester United, scoring the equaliser in Belgium, which must have indeed caught the watchful eyes of Mourinho.
United are also said to be readying a deal worth £34million for the young but experienced defensive midfielder.
