Super Eagles’ captain, John Mikel Obi on Wednesday commended Nigerians and fans all over the world for their support during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
This came as the Super Eagles were sent out of the World Cup on Tuesday night after a 2-1 defeat to Argentina at St. Petersburg.
Mikel took to his twitter official handle to say that the Eagles fought till the end and feels hurt just like every one else.
The midfielder noted that the support of Nigerians motivated the Eagles throughout the competition and cannot appreciate them enough.
“We fought until the end and we are all hurting with you. Your support has driven us throughout the World Cup and we cannot thank you enough,” Mikel tweeted.

Many argued that the Eagles were cheated after the center referee failed to award two clear penalties while others noted that the Eagles had several opportunities to bury the game but failed to do so.

The fact still remains that after much effort, the Eagles took a bow and the BIG question right now is, What next?
