The Red Devils’ head coach, Jose Mourinho has stated that his side were the best team during the Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge which ended 2-2 after Barkley scored a dramatic late equalizer.
Mourinho made the statement during his press briefing shortly after the game, adding that it was an awful result for the United and a phenomenal result for the Blues.
“We were the best team on the pitch. And if you say before the match one point at Stamford Bridge is always a good result because it is so hard for teams to win here. But after the game the way the game was it is an awful result for us and a phenomenal result for them,” he said.
According to the Portuguese, he has never seen Stamford Bridge so quiet like today and that’s because they were in trouble
“I’ve played hundreds of matches at Stamford Bridge and I’ve never seen the stadium so quiet. It was this quiet because they were in trouble,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho went on to throw jabs at the center referee saying there was no time wasting but Mike Dean went on to award six minutes
“I hope every referee does the same as Mike Dean and gives six minutes, I don’t know where they came from. We always tried to play, there was no time wasting.”
He went further to speak on the incident between him and Sarri’s assistant.
“I am not annoyed with anything. What happened with Sarri’s assistant, Sarri was the first one to come to me and say he will resolve it. The assistant has already come to me and apologised, I told him to forget it. I have made a lot of mistakes in my career,” Mourinho said.

And the abuse from Chelsea fans? He said;
“I did not get respect back from Chelsea fans but that is not my responsiblity. What I did here today I will do in Madrid, in Milan, in Porto, the reaction from the fans is not up to me.”
Mourinho however, commended his team for their effort.
“We defend corners mixed, some zonal, some man to man. Every player knows with closed eyes which player is his player, which space is his space. I am pleased with everything apart from the result which is awful for us,” he said.
