Depression is an important experience that needed to be dealt with because many act due to what they are going through or have already gone through. An individual might not even know that his/her actions were due to depression.
Depression is a mood or emotional state that is marked by feelings of low self-worth or guilt and a reduced ability to enjoy life.
The general experiences of a depressed persons include; constant feeling of sadness, hopelessness and decreased vitality, slowness of thought and for some people, total loss of appetite and disturbed sleep.
Causes of Depression
Depression can range from one due to menial grief to severe cases of mourning.
In the case of loss of aged loved ones, the emotional feelings might be simple and easy to handle while severe cases of depression is best handled with wisdom.
Unfavorable life events or unsatisfying results may also placed “loads” on an individual to become moody and probably sad leading to depression.
The primary cause of depression is disappointment and/or the fear. It is also reported that excessive stress can as well lead to depression but the way out of every depression is simply sharing your feelings with someone. Severe cases normally arises from prolong exposure to pain and torture, disappointment might also do, but when pain accompany it, severe depression may result.
Treatment of depression
There are three known treatment while two are of great importance and this includes psychotherapy which involves giving emotional support to patient under which sharing of feelings lies.
The other treatment method is by using medication where antidepressants is administered to patients. Of this two, psychotherapy treatment is the best and does not worsen cases but takes time.
Therefore, chances abound to individuals who don’t share feelings with trusted colleague to be a victim of depression.
We must all have friends or trusted persons to stand in for us in the case of emotional breakdown. This will really help, and anyone one can occupy this position if we let it.
Take time to reflect on the reasons why you felt depressed lately and what helps you out of it, you will always link it to the relief which came from telling someone.
Some can also deal with depression by letting go and taking mind off it but what they do not know is that deep down inside lies the root of depression that could manifest when you don’t even expect it.
