The Super Falcons of Nigeria on Sunday morning thrashed Romania 4-1 to win the third place of the four nation invitational tournament at Wuhua Olympic Sports Stadium, in Guangdong, China.
The Falcons after pushing all through the first half, broke the dead lock 44 minutes into the game with a goal from Chiwendu Ihezuo.
73 minutes on, Rita Chikwelu extended the lead for the African champions, making the scoreline 3-1.
83 minutes on the clock, Ini Umotong completed the rout for the Super Falcons to make the scoreline 4-1.
Romania, however, failed to make a mark against the African team.
After losing to the host, China, the falcons bounced back to hammer Romania 4-1 and will be looking set to make an impact at the Women’s World Cup coming up in France, later this year.
