The House of Representatives’ proposal that Nigerians in Ukraine be evacuated, particularly students, has sparked uproar online.

In a widely circulated letter on Thursday, Lawmakers stated that they are prepared to cover the cost of the evacuation.

Some netizens inquired about the government’s whereabouts all along, stating that they had just realised Nigerians in Ukraine needed to leave after the airspace was shut down.

They also chastised the Nigerian Embassy in Ukraine for advising Nigerians to maintain calm.

Worries concerning the safety of thousands of Nigerian students studying in Ukraine have been raised.

They claim that since Russia began attacking Ukraine, they have been abandoned by their country.

In the midst of the country’s mounting crisis, the Federal Government says it is considering a special flight operation to remove Nigerians from Ukraine.

Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, noted in Abuja on Thursday.
