Nigeria Super Eagles don begin their journey for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, as 23 players don join first training session before dem go face Madagascar on Friday.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali na among the players wey recently join the team, as head coach Éric Chelle bring him squad together for Uyo on Tuesday, September 22, na weytin Hitvibz dey yan be dat.
Super Eagles Don Begin Training Before Madagascar Match
The team first training happen for the practice pitch of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where the three-time African champions begin to prepare for their first Group L match.
As 23 players don enter camp, Chelle don get almost everybody wey he select available, while Nigeria dey prepare to welcome Madagascar on Friday, September 25.
After that match, the Super Eagles go travel go Guinea-Bissau for their second AFCON qualifier on September 29.
The new arrivals don give the team more options for different positions. Ndidi go bring leadership for midfield, Chukwueze go add more attacking power, while Nwabali go give the squad another goalkeeper wey get international experience.

Maduka Okoye Still Remain the Last Player Wey Dem Dey Expect
Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye na the only player wey never reach camp yet, and once he arrive, the total number of players go reach 24.
Okoye dey among the three goalkeepers wey Chelle select for the opening AFCON qualifiers, together with Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo.
For now, na Nwabali and Okonkwo be the two goalkeepers wey train with the team for the first session, as everybody dey wait for the Udinese shot-stopper to show face.
Okoye get international experience, and e start both of Nigeria June friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.
For the match against Poland on June 3, Okoye play the complete 90 minutes as Nigeria draw 2–2. E later play against Portugal on June 10, where the Super Eagles lose 2–1.
The goalkeeper dey expected to reach camp later today, September 24, after e collect permission to settle some family and personal matters.
Once Okoye arrive, Nigeria go get the complete 24-man squad ready for the opening qualifier against Madagascar.
As the first training don finish, Chelle and him coaching crew go now concentrate on making the team’s tactics sharper before Friday’s match for Uyo.
For the Super Eagles, the mission clear: start the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign well and build confidence before dem travel go Guinea-Bissau.
