Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education, has responded to the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) strike by declaring that the government has met all of the union’s requests.
All earned allowances, as well as revitalization funding, have been released, according to Mr Nwajiuba.
The Federal Government had been accused by ASUU of conspiring against the deployment of the UTAS, a payment platform built by ASUU to compete with the IPPIS payment system.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called a conference to discuss its next course of action after ASUU’s strike was extended for another two months.
According to the Sunday Asefon, the president of NANS, the association will make a decision in the next 48 hours.
