Saudi Arabia has confirmed its first case of the new Omicron coronavirus variant

SAUDI ARABIA – As countries in Europe and America tighten restrictions on international travel in an attempt to slow the spread of the new Covid-19 variant otherwise known as Omicron, Saudi Arabia national has reported the nation’s first case of the new variant.

The information came from the Nation’s health ministry and  Saudi Arabia’s state-run SPA reported the ministry as saying

the infected individual – a Saudi national who has been isolated – had travelled back from a North African country.

The WHO and Scientists in South Africa and around the world have been clambering to learn more about the effects of the Omicron variant, which was first detected in South Africa last week.

Although it is unclear where, how or when the variant first emerged. The report of the new variant has caused nations to impose travel restrictions, especially on travelers coming from Southern Africa, despite the World Health Organization’s call for “rational” measures in response to the new strain.
