All Travellers arriving to the United Kingdom will now have to take a Covid test before their departure

Nigeria will be added from 4:00AM Monday 6th December, to the red list of countries from where people arriving must quarantine in a hotel for 10 days, the health secretary Mr Sajid Javid confirmed today.

Mr Javid said the government’s strategy since the discovery of the Omicron variant had been to “buy time” to assess and to “put in place protective measures”, adding: “We’ve always said that we would act swiftly should new data require it.”

Press release from the gove.uk site stated:

Currently, the vast majority of cases in the UK have clear links to overseas travel from South Africa and Nigeria, and over the past week, 21 Omicron cases reported in England originate from Nigeria.
