Chairman of the Rivers State Palliatives Committee, Amb. Desmond Akawor, has announced the expansion of the committee to include various stakeholders, such as different political parties, CAN, the Muslim community, traditional rulers, the media, and others.
This development was disclosed by Akawor during a recent inaugural meeting held in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The primary goal of this expanded committee is to ensure the equitable distribution of essential items intended for the most disadvantaged individuals in the state.
The Rivers PDP Chairman emphasized that his personal reputation and integrity are on the line, and he is committed to upholding the trust he has built over the years, ensuring that bags of rice do not tarnish his good name.
The newly expanded committee comprises the following members:

2. Dabiye Briggs – Secretary, Office of the SSG
3. Mrs. Inime Aguma – Member, Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation
4. Omiete Eferebo – Member, IPAC – APC

7. Ken Atata – Member, IPAC – APP
8. Dumbari Nwigbarato – Member, IPAC – AA

It’s worth noting that the Rivers State government recently acknowledged the receipt of over 16,800 bags of rice from the federal government as part of their palliative efforts.
Governor Fubara has urged the committee members to approach the fair distribution of the rice in a non-partisan manner to ensure that it reaches those in need across the state.
