He urged business owners to immediately cease all dealings with the former chairman, Barr George Ariolu, whose tenure has officially ended, Hitvibz reports.

During an inspection tour of motor parks in the area, Ambassador Ihunwo emphasised that all revenue committees established under the previous administration have been dissolved.

Ihunwo was joined by members of the Caretaker Committee and Prince Achor Nna, the immediate past leader of the Obio Akpor Legislative Assembly.

The tour also included visits to Choba and Rumuola motor parks.

Speaking further, he stressed that any tax payments made to the former administration or its agents would be considered illegal.

Ambassador Ihunwo stated that, ordinarily, he wouldn’t have addressed the issues surrounding Barr George Ariolu.

However, to protect the unsuspecting public, he clarified that Ariolu no longer has the authority to collect taxes as his tenure has expired.

Ihunwo warned that any business caught paying taxes to Ariolu or his agents will be arrested and prosecuted for aiding criminal activities within the LGA.

Be wary of fraudsters posing as tax collectors,” Ambassador Ihunwo cautioned.

Businesses operating within Obio Akpor are advised to adhere strictly to this directive to avoid legal repercussions.
