Martins Amaewhule, the representative of Obio/Akpor Constituency 1, has been chosen as the speaker of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.
Governor Siminialayi Fubara inaugurated the State House of Assembly, and shortly thereafter, Mr. Amaewhule was elected unopposed by the House members.
Dumle Maol, the lawmaker representing Gokana Constituency 1, was elected as the Deputy Speaker.
In his official capacity, the new speaker administered the oath of office to other elected members.
He expressed his commitment to a legislative chamber that prioritizes the state’s interests and promised to enact laws that bring the benefits of democracy to the constituents of Rivers.
He emphasized his intention to foster unity among the members, ensuring effective lawmaking for the betterment of Rivers State.
Furthermore, he assured a cooperative relationship with the other branches of government to ensure the success of the current administration.
The speaker also expressed gratitude to the elected members for entrusting him with such an esteemed position.
