Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, chairman, caretaker committee of Obio Akpor Local Government Council, has expressed his disappointment that a significant portion of the individuals fueling the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State hail from his local government area.
In a recent meeting with community elders, Ihunwo stated,
“In my capacity as the chairman of Obio Akpor local government, I feel sad that most of the people fueling the political crisis in Rivers State are from Obio Akpor.”
He said that the fact that they have now resorted to protests indicates that they have lost the battle, Hitvibz reports.
During the meeting, Ihunwo visited the residences of Prince Solomon Eke, the state’s Commissioner for Power, and Mike Enwukwe, a pioneering Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
The visit aimed to foster unity and collaboration within the party supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Obio Akpor council boss commended both Eke and Enwukwe for their loyalty and commitment to the governor.
Eke expressed confidence in Ihunwo’s ability to lead effectively, adding that he strongly believes the Obio Akpor council boss will deliver on the task ahead due to the way he has started.
While Enwukwe commended his courage in supporting Fubara during the initial stages of the political crisis.
However, Enwukwe also urged Ihunwo to prioritise initiatives focused on empowering the people of Obio Akpor.
