In a move to alleviate economic pressures and enhance governance, Hon. Philip Gogo, the Caretaker Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government, has appointed over 600 political aides. 
This unprecedented decision includes Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Special Assistants (SAs), Personal Assistants (PAs), and other political aides, all tasked with supporting the administration’s agenda, Hitvibz reports.
These appointments are seen as a strategic effort to harness the diverse experiences of the new aides, thereby driving the success of Gogo’s tenure.
The move is expected to stimulate local employment and provide a boost to the local economy, as well as enhance administrative efficiency.
Meanwhile, the Leadership of Oyigbo Simplified Family, alongside various party stakeholders, has unanimously endorsed Hon. Chisom Kenneth Gbali as the sole candidate for the upcoming Local Government Chairmanship election, scheduled for October 5, 2024, by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The endorsement of Hon. Gbali followed a vote of confidence and a motion by Dr. Sunny Okere, a former Permanent Secretary, urging Gbali to contest for the Executive Chairman position.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Chamberlin Okorie and affirmed by the Caretaker Chairman and other signatories.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Gbali expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders for their bold decision, promising to foster unity and bring progress, peace, and success to Oyigbo.
“I am deeply honoured by your confidence in me. Together, we will build a prosperous Oyigbo where everyone has a chance to thrive,” Gbali stated.
Stakeholders are optimistic that these moves will lead to enhanced governance, economic growth, and a unified community.
