Rivers state Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie-amadi has revealed that Oyigbo-Okoloma Road will be constructed according to their minimum standards.
The Commissioner stated this on Wednesday at the flag off of the reconstruction of Oyigbo-Okoloma road in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The Rivers Commissioner further noted that the road will be constructed with sharp sand filling, sand cement stabilisation, Stone base filling and finished with 2 layers of asphalt.
“It will be built according to our minimum standards: sharp sand filling, sand cement stabilisation, Stone base filling, finished with 2 layers of asphalt,” he said.
The Commissioner added that;
“This project when completed will on one hand, undoubtedly save the people money which otherwise would be wasted on vehicle repairs as a result of constant and accelerated wear and tear, long commute time etc., and on the other hand, it will put money in their pockets by promoting socio-economic activities.”
He said;
“YES, I can go on and on but let me simply say that, accessibility is the very first step to all forms of economic opportunity.”
