The vibrant LGA of Oyigbo is set to host an exciting initiative designed to unite its diverse communities while spreading the festive cheer.
The Oyigbo Games Festival, championed by EARTHLIONAIR, has gained notable recognition after a recent meeting with the Executive Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Okere, Hitvibz reports.
The event promises to inject life into the holiday season with engaging competitions and community-building activities.
On Monday, November 25, 2024, Hon. Dr. Okere welcomed members of EARTHLIONAIR during a courtesy visit to his office at the council secretariat in Afam.
Praising their innovative vision, Dr. Okere expressed enthusiasm for the group’s proposal, which aims to bring Oyigbo’s communities together in a grand celebration of talent and culture.
He assured the council’s critical review of the plan and pledged support, adding that the 2025 edition would be fully backed by the council as an official local government event.
Dr. Okere also noted that this event would elevate the Christmas experience for residents of the area, featuring concerts and other attractions that foster joy and connection.
The initiative aligns with his administration’s goal of creating a vibrant and unified local government area.
A festival to unite Oyigbo’s three zones
Speaking at the meeting, EARTHLIONAIR President Mr. Cossa Emmanuel shared exciting details about the upcoming occasion.
The second edition of the Oyigbo Games Festival will include competitions in table tennis, cooking, hairstyling, barbing, and football, among other activities.
These events will involve participants from three zones of the LGA: Asa, Ndoki, and Urban. Rehearsals are set to commence across all communities next week.
According to Mr. Emmanuel, the festival’s primary goal is to reignite a sense of homecoming for residents during the festive period.
He described it as a deliberate effort to encourage indigenes to return home for Christmas, offering a revitalising experience filled with unity and entertainment.
