During the recent demonstration in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara assured protesters that their concerns are well understood and will be communicated to the Federal Government for action.
Addressing a group of youths protesting under the banner of #EndBadGovernance at the Government House gates, the Governor acknowledged the harsh economic conditions driving the nationwide protests but assured that these difficulties are temporary, Hitvibz reports.
The Rivers Governor pledged to sustain the implementation of policies aimed at improving living conditions for residents.
Governor Fubara emphasised the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to securing a better future for all Nigerians.
He expressed gratitude to the protesters for maintaining peace and urged them to avoid any form of violence instigated by external forces.
“So, like I said before, I want to thank you for being peaceful. I already know your problems, we will communicate them to the Federal Government,” Fubara stated.
He warned against potential plans by some individuals to exploit the protests for destructive purposes.
He revealed that they’re aware that many people are planning to take advantage of the protest to destroy the state, but they would not allow it.
The Governor assured that while the current situation is challenging, improvement is on the horizon.
The governor stated that, although he knows it is not easy, but they are confident that very soon, everything will be well, starting from Rivers State.
He mentioned that what is needed is for people to support the government and its policies, acknowledging that while the implementation of policies may be harsh initially, in the end, everything will be fine.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the principles of good governance and its resolve to take decisive actions to alleviate economic hardships in the State.
“I am one of you. I feel your pain, and in our government here, we are doing everything to make life easy for our people,” he explained.
