Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has revealed that the upcoming Port Harcourt Ring Road project will serve as a catalyst for land acquisition and economic growth in the region.
This groundbreaking initiative, the most significant undertaking by any state in Nigeria, has already garnered excitement among investors across various sectors who are eager to reap the benefits it will bring, according to the governor.
Governor Fubara expressed his enthusiasm about the project during his inspection of deteriorating sections of Degema Street, Harbour Road, and Reclamation Road in the old Port Harcourt Township, as well as the bridge connecting Dr. Peter Odili Road to Woji Town.
He emphasized that the Port Harcourt Ring Road, spanning six local government areas, will serve as a legacy project, effectively relieving congestion on roads within Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Areas.
Highlighting the road’s significance, the governor stated;
“When all these places are opened up, people, including real estate investors, will start moving in, and businesses will open up because people have already started acquiring land there. That is to tell you the importance of the road.”
Governor Fubara also addressed the urgent need for remedial work on the dilapidated sections of the inspected roads.
He reassured the public that permanent solutions are being developed to ensure the roads are thoroughly fixed, providing uninterrupted transportation routes for residents and businesses.
During his inspection tour, Sir Siminalayi Fubara also visited the ongoing construction works at the Government Secondary School in Emohua and made a stopover at the failed portion of Rumuigbo Road.
The governor concluded his visit at lloabuchi Road, which will be integrated into the route of the Port Harcourt Ring Road project.
