In a joint operation conducted by the Jigawa State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) Jigawa State Command, a fake medical doctor was apprehended during a raid on a pharmaceutical store called Shawai Medical Plus.
As revealed by NTA, the suspect, identified as David Samuel, had been falsely claiming to be a Medical Doctor attached to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse.
The arrest came after a tip-off was received, leading to the discovery of numerous forged documents and evidence of illicit medical activities.
The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and the suspect will face prosecution.
On the 4th of July 2023, at approximately 5:00 PM, the Jigawa State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) Jigawa State Command collaborated on an operation based on a credible tip-off.
Acting swiftly, they raided a pharmaceutical store called Shawai Medical Plus, situated along Mopol Base in Sabuwar Takur, Dutse metropolitan area.
During the raid, the authorities apprehended a man named David Samuel, who had been posing as a Medical Doctor attached to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse.
It was discovered that the suspect had been involved in various fraudulent medical activities, including providing medical consultancy services, prescribing medications, and even offering home services to unsuspecting victims.
Upon investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse, numerous forged documents were recovered from the possession of the imposter.
Among the seized items were a degree certificate purportedly from Usman Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, an NYSC certificate, and a membership medical certificate issued by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
During interrogations, David Samuel admitted to fabricating all the documents found in his possession.
He revealed that he had dropped out of Usman Danfodiyo University in Sokoto and had no legitimate medical training or qualifications.
DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command in Dutse, issued a statement regarding the arrest.
He emphasized that the suspect’s actions endangered the lives and well-being of the public and vowed that a thorough investigation would be carried out.
The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that the suspect, David Samuel, will face prosecution once the investigation is concluded.
