Governor Nyesom Wike has stated that everyone wants to be Rivers governor now simply because he has paved the way for them in the state.
According to Wike, his successor understands that the campaign for the 2023 governorship race is already over due to policies and projects set in place by his administration, which is why everyone is vying for the position.
Governor Wike made the remark during the inauguration of the GRA Junction Flyover project in Port Harcourt on Saturday, which was performed by Mike Agbedor Ozekhome, SAN.
“Anybody that is taking over from us, know that we have campaigned for the person. The campaign is over. That is why everybody is jostling to be governor because they know what I have done. I have cleared the road, so everybody is saying I want to be governor,” Wike said.
Governor Wike declared that the days of politicians using excuses to hide their lack of leadership ability were over.
He claimed that no administration has been able to match what he has accomplished in the state in terms of project infrastructure in six years, including the completion of five flyover bridges, with four more under construction and one set to be awarded.
The Rivers Governor went on to say that the high-quality projects that have been completed in the state are enough to convince the voters to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming elections.
Wike however, urged whoever succeeds him not to award projects if there isn’t enough money to finish them on time.
