For the kidnapping and murder of former Director of Finance and Supply, State Ministry of Health, Charles Wogu, and Chief Promise Wali, a High Court in Port Harcourt has condemned three people to death by hanging.
After eleven years of trial, Andy Clement Ogbu, Goddrey Handson, and Chima Nwokoma were facing a nine-count conspiracy and murder accusation.
While delivering the judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, stated that the prosecution had largely proved their case against the three prisoners.
Hitvibz gathered that The 3rd defendant, Obinna Okerefor, and the 6th defendant, Ogechi Ihunwo, were already released and acquitted by Justice Enebeli.
He claimed that the prosecution’s case against the two defendants on conspiracy and kidnapping counts lacked substance.
He also dismissed charges against the fourth defendant, late Rowland Azuka, who allegedly died in the penitentiary centre during the trial.
