The governor made this statement while addressing a group of youths protesting against the economic hardship in the state on Thursday, Hitvibz reports.

The protesters, who converged at the gates of Government House in Port Harcourt, expressed their frustration over the rising cost of living and food scarcity.

In response, Governor Fubara empathised with their plight, stating that he’s going to make sure that he make life easy for them and the youths of the state.

“I agree with you that there is hunger, but because we preach good governance, we are committed to making hunger disappear very soon.”

While acknowledging the challenges, the governor, however, warned against violent protests, emphasizing the need for peace and stability in the state.

He assured the protesters of his administration’s commitment to their welfare but stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could destabilise the state.

He insisted that his administration will support the youths, and genuinely work for their well-being, but warned that it will not tolerate anybody that will use the protest to cause anarchy.

He added that although his administration is coming from a very bad situation, he has to start somewhere to make things right.

The initial policies, at the centre, might not be friendly but at the end of it, if we are patient and tolerant, there is no way the policies will not yield positive results and development for our State,” he assured.

Fubara also urged patience with the federal government’s economic policies, believing that they would eventually yield positive results.

He appealed to residents to support the government’s efforts to improve their lives.
