Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed how Nigeria can move forward after 2023 general election.
Jonathan claimed that for Nigeria to move forward, we must all regard it as our own nation and have faith in the strength of the people.
In addition, he emphasized the necessity for a credible election in 2023 and said that whoever succeeds Buhari as president of Nigeria must endeavor to bring the country together.
The former leader stated this on Friday when he met with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi at his Yenagoa residence in Bayelsa State.
Obi and Jonathan had a private meeting as the LP candidate’s presidential campaign for the 2023 elections is in full swing,
Jonathan claimed that Nigeria is deeply divided and advised Obi that if he wins, bringing Nigeria together must be his top priority.
The former president also praised the presidential candidate for making the audacious decision to run for office outside of the two major parties in 2023.
Mr Jonathan wrote on his twitter page saying;
“Today I received in audience members of the Presidential Campaign Council of the @NgLabour led by its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi. I reiterated that to move Nigeria forward, we all must see it as our own country and believe in the unity of the nation.”

Jonathan added that;
“Whoever becomes the next president must work towards uniting the nation. I also stressed on the need for a credible election and urge the Labour Party and all other parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully.”
Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, Obi’s running partner, was beside him, along with party veterans.
Recall that Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has also given Peter Obi his backing. He met with the 85-year-old statesman on September 26.
The LP candidate and his running mate also paid visits to General Abdulsalami Abubakar and General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), two former military leaders, in September.
