The EFCC’s zonal office in Port Harcourt claims it is investigating twenty-one alleged artisanal crude oil refiners.
The suspects were given over to them by the Nigerian Navy, according to the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.
The vessels transporting the illegally processed petroleum products were also seized, according to the statement.
The vessel and the accused are being held in Brass, Bayelsa State, Mr. Uwujaren disclosed.
This follows the parade of eighteen alleged artisanal crude oil refiners by the Rivers State Police Command on Monday.
The suspects were detained by the taskforce set up to monitor their actions, according to Police Commissioner, Eboka Friday, who spoke to reporters at the Command Headquarters.
Before any arrests are made, CP Friday disclosed that the command is waiting for the list of people proclaimed wanted by the Rivers State Government.
