Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has once more criticized Senator Lyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the PDP, for saying that he contacted Atiku Abubakar to borrow funds for the party’s national secretariat.
Shortly after his return from Spain, Governor Wike briefed reporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport and voiced the displeasure.
Additionally, Governor Wike criticized remarks attributed to the PDP presidential candidate encouraging Northerners to support him in the 2023 elections since he is a native of the north.
At a time when efforts should be made to provide citizens a sense of belonging, he claimed that if factual, such a statement posed a threat to the nation’s unity.
It could be recalled that the PDP presidential candidate – Atiku Abubakar stirred controversy by asking the Arewa Joint Committee for support despite being from the north.
He asserted that a Yoruba or Igbo candidate was not necessary for the North, making subtle jabs at his counterparts – Mr. Tinubu of APC and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
