The council boss gave the assurance on Friday when he met with the youths and chiefs of the LGA at the palace of His Royal Majesty Eze S.N Nwaeke, (the Ononankume VI of Umuihueze clan 1 of Ndoki kingdom).
In a move to resolve the widespread blackout occasioned by the cessation of electrical power by the Port-Harcourt Electric Distribution Company (PHED) in the LGA, the Oyigbo boss assured the people that he is working round the clock to bring about a lasting solution to the unhealthy relationship between the PHED and the host community.
He commended the chiefs and the youths of the LGA for the maximum cooperation which they have shown him since he was sworn in as the Executive chairman of the LGA.
He further thanked the residents of the LGA especially the youths for remaining peaceful and resolute even while in darkness and urged them to remain calm as he is committed to working with the relevant bodies and stakeholders in ensuring that power is restored in the LGA.
However, the president of Oyigbo people’s Assembly, Comr. Prince Ejike Dike, while speaking on behalf of the youths of the LGA, thanked the Chairman, for his prompt intervention in ensuring that light is restored in the area despite that he has just assumed office.
He expressed optimism in the struggle, while maintaining that no amount of pressure or intimidation will cause the youths of the LGA to back out from their planned protest if power is not restored after the expiration of the 7 days ultimatum given to the PHED.
