Barely 36 hours after the launch of eNaira Speed Wallet by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the application has been bundled out of Google Play Store.
CBN recently launched two digital currency applications – eNaira speed wallet and eNaira merchant wallet, as of Thursday morning, the former has been removed from Play Store.
Recall that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, while launching the apps boasted that over 500 million eNaira ($1.21 million) has already been minted.
But negative and mixed reactions trailed the launch of the app as many Nigerians took to the review section on Play Store to express their displeasure.
Users complained of several issues, ranging from the inability to link their Bank Verification number, to getting a verification email.
Meanwhile, the eNaira merchant wallet app is currently still available on Google Play Store with 2.1 over 5 ratings.
The eNaira was fully developed by Bitt, fintech company, also responsible for the creation of CBDC in some East Caribbean countries.
