Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has asked residents of the state to pray while remaining united over who will be the state’s next governor.

This was revealed by Governor Wike on Tuesday during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholder meeting in Rivers State, which was held at Government House in Port Harcourt.

Governor Wike stated that the process is well underway as he nears the end of his term, and that everyone should pray while remaining united about who will be the next governor of the state.

He claimed that the general expectation is for those who will take over the mantle to be those who are prepared to improve on the current standard of governance.

Governor Wike indicated that he will never anoint someone to succeed him, but that he will pray to God to provide the state with a person capable of taking the state to the next level.

“I am not anointing anybody. All I’ve said to God is that help me that a better person will emerge that will move this state forward. I urge all of you to be calm. It is still early for us to say it must be this person or that person.”
