Mbah made this announcement during a press briefing after his first security council meeting with the heads of various security agencies at the Government House in Enugu State.

Therefore, starting from Monday, June 6, 2023, there will be no observance of any sit-at-home in Enugu State. Governor Mbah emphasized that his administration will ensure strict enforcement of this decision.

While expressing a commitment to dialogue with stakeholders, the governor urged the residents of Enugu to regain their industrious spirit and pride in their state, thus reviving its glorious history.

By responding to this appeal, the people of Enugu will be taking steps towards fulfilling their aspirations, according to the governor.

Furthermore, Governor Mbah called upon President Tinubu to release Kanu as a gesture of goodwill towards the South-East region, in order to facilitate the much-needed healing process in Nigeria.

Governor Mbah said;

Let me also call on our newly sworn-in president, His Excellency Bola Tinubu, to consciously work towards the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We believe that his release will expedite the healing process Nigeria needs at this time. It will also be a pointer to his administration’s extension of brotherly hands of fellowship to Ndigbo.”

Recall that Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since 2021, despite numerous pleas for his release during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
