Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has once more made headlines as he donates the sum of 500 million naira for the building of a new complex for the Body of Benchers.
Wole Olanipekun, the Chairman of the Body revealed this on Thursday during President Muhammadu Buhari’s opening of the Complex in Abuja.
Many Nigerians were stunned to see Governor Wike at the Body of Benchers Complex inauguration in Abuja.
Some stakeholders have already lambasted Wike, who is known for his philanthropic deeds, for making the donation while retirees and protesting teachers were unpaid in the state.
According to Buhari, his administration is dedicated to following the law and considering the wellbeing of judicial staff members.
The highest caliber of legal practitioners get together as The Body of Benchers, whose duties include overseeing the official call to the bar and penalizing disreputable lawyers.
