Following a meticulous examination of all the available evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, has officially shattered the previous record for the longest individual cooking marathon.

Hilda accomplished this incredible feat by dedicating an astonishing 93 hours and 11 minutes to continuous cooking.

The talented 26-year-old chef from Nigeria, Hilda embarked on her culinary journey on Thursday, May 11, and valiantly persevered until Monday, May 15.

Throughout this impressive four-day kitchen endeavor, she prepared over 100 pots of delicious food.

Initially aiming to complete a total of 100 hours, Hilda encountered a minor setback when a few extra minutes were inadvertently counted as part of one of her early rest breaks.

Consequently, approximately seven hours were deducted from her final total.

In accordance with the regulations governing “longest marathon” records, participants are allowed a five-minute break for every consecutive hour of activity.

These rest breaks can be accumulated if not utilized, and they served as the only opportunities for Hilda to use the bathroom or rest during her commendable attempt.

The previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes was established by Lata Tondon of India back in 2019.

Determined to place Nigerian cuisine on the global map and inspire young African women to pursue their dreams, Hilda undertook this ambitious record-breaking endeavor.

“I also saw this as an opportunity to push my limits and test my abilities,” Hilda shared, emphasizing the personal significance of her pursuit.

The most valuable takeaway from Hilda’s remarkable achievement is her unwavering determination.

Even after surpassing Lata Tondon’s record of 87 hours, she pushed herself further to reach a total of 100 hours, ultimately securing a new world record despite the aforementioned deduction by Guiness World Records.
