Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has expressed delight with the Federal Government’s decision to lift the Twitter ban.
The Federal Government has officially lifted the ban on Twitter activities in Nigeria after 222 days and economic losses of about N546.5 billion, according to The Guardian.
The restriction was lifted on Wednesday, via a statement by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Chairman Technical Committee, Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Atiku stated that the effects of the Twitter ban, particularly on small businesses, were visible to all, and that he is relieved that the ban has been reversed.
“The effects of the #TwitterBan, particularly on small businesses, was evident for all to see. I am glad that the ban has finally been lifted, and our young people who are already dealing with the challenging business environment can now have a breath of fresh air to thrive,” he wrote on Twitter.
