On December 17, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA) — Memphis rap artist NLE Choppa drops a new single and music video titled “Drop Shit” to round out the year.
It sets the way for his much-anticipated new mixtape, Me vs. Me, which is set to drop soon.
“Barking up this tree, you gonna to get smoked,” NLE Choppa threatens on the track, which features a dizzying flow punctuated by agile lines and a chantable melody.
In the video, he does a rockstar-level performance in front of a crowded backyard show before chopping down a tree, donning a Santa costume to ride into the night, and barbecuing for his ideal girl and kids.
It’s possibly his wildest video ever, and it’s the ideal lead-up to Christmas in few days.
NLE Choppa is still making headlines.
He recently released “Jumpin (feat. Polo G)” before talking about how he’s revolutionizing hip-hop on FOX’s The Real.
HotNewHipHop applauded the track saying;
“Choppa’s showing signs of growth, outside of his own personal development, and his forthcoming project will likely be a clear depiction of that.”
He also collaborated with 070 Shake for “Lose My Cool”. It was chosen one of Billboard’s “R&B Hip-Hop Fresh Picks of the Week” and was defined as “futuristic trap” by Pitchfork.
He recently tore up the stage at Rolling Loud LA, as well as appearing on Revolt’s “Black Men-tal Health” panel, which was chaired by Royce Da 5’9″ and included Mozzy.
The October original, “Jumpin (Choppa’s Version),” featured a dazzling guest appearance by Chicago rap star Polo G.
Choppa’s cinematic sensibility and artistic vision were exhibited in the song’s accompanying video. Choppa and Polo star in the flick, which plays out like a classic heist movie.
It was simply the latest in a long line of huge successes for NLE Choppa. Following June’s emotional “Letter to My Daughter,” he released the hard-hitting “Mmm Hmm” in August.
He released his much-loved “First Day Out,” a freestyle over SpotemGottem’s “Beat Box,” on April 1.
The video has over 69 million views on Youtube, and the song was subsequently published as an official remix named “Beat Box 4.” Choppa released “Picture Me Grapin'” in January, along with a video that paid homage to Tupac Shakur.
