Late on Sunday night, October 29, 2023, a fire incident occurred in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hitvibz reports
Fortunately, the fire was swiftly extinguished by the fire service, and security agencies took control of the situation.
Governor Fubara visited the Assembly complex on Monday to assess the damage and take necessary measures to safeguard lives and property.
Shortly after, reports emerged of a political crisis within the State House of Assembly, with two factions claiming to have impeached key members. This crisis added to the already tense situation.
The Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his fatherly intervention and expressed gratitude to the elders who are currently involved in mediation efforts.
Governor Fubara emphasized that his actions are aimed at restoring peace and stability in the state and that the progress of Rivers State remains his primary concern.
He stressed the need for unity among leaders within the state, including former Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, to work together for the well-being of the people.
