The plant, expected to commence operations before the end of October 2024, will produce innovative electric vehicles and CNG (compressed natural gas driven vehicles), aligning with the global shift towards sustainable energy, Hitvibz reports.

Arc. Dr. Kaycee Orji, CEO of Roxette Motors, expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for creating an enabling environment that facilitated the establishment of the plant in Abia State.

The assembly plant will generate over 1,000 employment opportunities for Abians and contribute significantly to the state’s economic growth.

Governor Otti welcomed the development, emphasising the importance of local production and backward integration.

He announced plans to build a dual-carrier way into Obu-aku City and expressed interest in increasing the state’s equity to support the project.Roxettes Motors Set to Launch 40,000 Units Capacity Automobile Assembly Plant in Abia

“I know we worked out the equity of the state on the evaluation of land, which I believe is less than two percent (2%). So, in due course, we will want to look at it and see if we can increase our equity to use it to support you,”  Governor Otti declared.

The Governor informed Dr. Orji that the state is making orders for some of the vehicles because the state is a strong supporter of local production.

So, we will also place orders for some of the vehicles. We strongly believe that a major part of our problem is that we are almost 100% import dependent,” he said.

The governor remarked that our heavy reliance on imported goods strains the foreign exchange reserves.Roxettes Motors: Abia Gets 40,000-Units Electric Vehicle Plant

He expressed his belief that promoting domestic production and prioritising locally-produced food would significantly strengthen the national economy.

The governor went on to promise that the state will help them fulfil their goals and also urged others with similar lofty aspirations to visit Abia State.
