There is excitement and jubilation throughout the land of Abia after Julius Berger Managing Director Dr. Lars Richter was sighted giving Aba-Port Harcourt Road, Abia State, a comprehensive tour.
The long-abandoned Port Harcourt Road in Aba will soon be home to bulldozers and other construction equipment, signaling a fresh approach to infrastructure delivery in Abia State.
The Aba-Port Harcourt Road, which has evolved into one of Abians‘ worst dreadful experiences in terms of road infrastructure, was visited by engineers from Julius Berger.
This is coming barely a week after Dr. Lars Richter visited Dr. Alex Otti, the next governor of Abia State, at his Umuehim, Nvosi country residence in Isialangwa.
The Julius Berger engineers were there to conduct a visual examination and obtain a personal evaluation of the condition of the road.
It’s thought that Dr. Otti and Richter’s encounter may have led to the visit on Wednesday.

Port Harcourt Road, Aba is a TOTAL DISGRACE!!!
Speaking with one of Alex Otti’s aide tonight, man said and I quote,
“Don’t worry, when Alex Otti is done with Abia many states will envy Abia” pic.twitter.com/M34IkxEQst

The sight of the Julius Berger engineers and their Nigerian colleagues, who traversed a considerable portion of the road that has turned into one huge dump site and smelly swamps, caused an overwhelming feeling of happiness and fresh hope among the locals, traders, commuters, and passersby.
At the Osisioma end of the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, the engineers briefly spoke with the Abia Governor-elect before moving on to Port Harcourt Road, in the middle of Abia’s commercial hub, to check the 5.9 km of road.
