During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Baxter, who has spent three and a half weeks in Nigeria, expressed his admiration for the country.
He described Nigerians as passionate, full of energy, and possessing an entrepreneurial spirit.
Baxter explained that in the previous full year, the UK issued around 324,000 visas to Nigerians out of a total of three million visas issued globally.
This figure accounts for about 10 percent of the visas issued by the UK.
He emphasized that this proportion is notable, considering Nigeria’s population on the global scale, highlighting the positive trend of Nigerians choosing the UK as their destination.
Nigeria ranks second only to India in terms of foreign students studying in the UK.
Baxter conveyed the UK’s warm welcome to the numerous Nigerian students and residents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal immigration routes and respecting the country’s rules.
The UK remains committed to facilitating legal and respectful immigration processes for Nigerians, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
