The British Deputy High Commissioner, Jonny Baxter, has disclosed that the United Kingdom, UK granted approximately 132,000 visas to Nigerians in the first half of this year – 6 Months.Nigerians Welcomed with Open Arms as UK Grants 132,000 Visas in 6 Months

During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Baxter, who has spent three and a half weeks in Nigeria, expressed his admiration for the country.

He described Nigerians as passionate, full of energy, and possessing an entrepreneurial spirit.

Baxter explained that in the previous full year, the UK issued around 324,000 visas to Nigerians out of a total of three million visas issued globally.

This figure accounts for about 10 percent of the visas issued by the UK.

He emphasized that this proportion is notable, considering Nigeria’s population on the global scale, highlighting the positive trend of Nigerians choosing the UK as their destination.

Nigeria ranks second only to India in terms of foreign students studying in the UK.

Baxter conveyed the UK’s warm welcome to the numerous Nigerian students and residents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal immigration routes and respecting the country’s rules.
