After 16 months wey dem never play any competitive match, the sports journalists don accept invitation to join one exclusive 8-team football tournament wey Valentino Swiss Hotel & Apartments organise, na weytin Hitvibz dey yan be dat.
Veterans-Only Tournament Get Strict Rules
Dem organise the competition to celebrate the birthday of Ibrahim Raymond Lagundoye, CEO of Valentino Swiss Hotel & Apartments.
The tournament go start this Sunday, July 12, 2026, by exactly 12:00 noon.
The matches go happen for Plot 220 G.U. Ake Road, GRA Phase 8, beside NAF Harmony Estate.
Organisers don already set clear rules for the competition.
Competition Format: Na fast 5-Aside football tournament wey get eight teams, using the popular “Monkey Post” format. Each team fit register maximum of 10 players.
Who Fit Play: Na only players wey don reach 40 years and above fit feature. Active league footballers and young boys no get permission to play so that every team go compete on equal ground.
Apart from football, enjoyment dey wait every team. SWAN Rivers and the other invited teams go chop better food, enjoy drinks, and winners go also carry home different prizes after the tournament.

Recent results never really favour SWAN Rivers.
The last time wey the state chapter play football na March 26, 2025, when dem face Trans Amadi Professionals (TAP) during TAP one-year anniversary celebration. SWAN Rivers lose that match 2-0.
Before that game, the journalists manage play 1-1 draw against Rivers State Football Referees’ Council for December 2023.
