At the 2023 Oscar, popular singer – Tems reached yet another landmark by becoming the first and only Nigerian artist to do so.

The multiple award-winning singer and entertainer who was also nominated for a Golden Globe, has now received further recognition for her significant contributions to music by being the first and only Nigerian artist to be nominated for an Oscar at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Tems‘ significant contribution to the writing of “Lift Me Up” for the Marvel-produced Black Panther Wakanda Forever earned her a nomination for an Oscar for Best Original Song.

This nomination follows those for the 2022 Grammy Awards and the 2022 Golden Globe Awards, both of which were announced in December 2022.

Tems has up to this point managed to shatter and overcome preexisting barriers as evidenced by his recognition by the most prestigious international prizes as well as on the music charts.
