Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed says the Twitter ban in Nigeria will be lifted soon.Twitter ban in Nigeria

The Minister stated this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the virtual Federal Executive Council meeting.

The ban on Twitter will soon be lifted as we are getting close to reaching full agreement,” Mohammed told reporters after a cabinet meeting. “We have agreed on some areas. Hopefully in the next few days or weeks we will conclude,” he said.

Lai Mohammed said one outstanding issue about the Twitter ban in Nigeria was Nigeria’s demand that Twitter set up an office in the country. He said Twitter had agreed to this but was saying it could not do so until 2022.

Recall that Twitter’s activities were indefinitely suspended in Nigeria on June 4, two days after the social media giant removed a post of President Buhari that threatened to punish regional secessionists.
