An Adamawa businessman Ali Yakubu Numan has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for insulting the State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Mr. Numan had taken to Facebook on different days in July to criticize the Adamawa State Governor.
In one post, he described Governor Finitri as a thief and father of all thieves in Nigeria, who stole noodles, spaghetti and hundreds of billions of Naira from state coffers.
The businessman was remanded in prison custody following his arraignment on defamation charges by the attorney-general of Adamawa state.
He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison with an option of N50,000 fine for calling Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa governor “father of all thieves”.
He was also sentenced to six-month imprisonment without the option of a fine for disturbance of public peace.
